Type 9 abuse

Hello i'm new in the forum but i've been viewing it for quite a while.
I had a question regarding the amount of abuse a type 9 can withstand, some said it cannot hold more than 150 bhp, others say it can handle 200 and a bit..

I have worked on a project (more like my mechanic ) and he mated a Type 9 with a volvo b230 engine


I wanted to know if i should expect problems since im looking for around 230 bhp, maybe there's something i can do to preserve this gear

Ford has rated Standard Type 9 to hold 180bhb.
It wont breakdown if you wont abuse it.
By abusing I mean you have narrow tires long ratios.

I have Type 9 HD V6 gearbox its little bit stronger but not much.
I have used it for 10 years. Latest dyno showed me that I have almost 400bhb and 520nm torque.
With my cologne engine. I am also using longest ratio that Atlas axle has 3.09.
Also my tires are street tires witdh of 205mm. I have also LSD so its burning
tires with both wheels. Still I don't race and rarely do hard burnouts so
gearbox still holds the power.

Wider tires and rear axle ratio of 3.44 might brake and gearbox anytime.

Also if the gearbox is gonna hold you need to have it in perfect shape.
It must be quiet, this need very good shimming and all gears and syncros
must be good shape. Clutch cable must be adjusted rightly and all shifts
must be smooth otherwise there will be broken gearbox soon.

Though I am also looking for stronger gearbox but its hard to find one suitable
and easy to fit.

Late answer maybe, I have run with about 300whp, Killed it when I burned some rubber in 2gear on a bumpy road.

after using the gearbox for over a year with 200+- bhp it's still holding, although I can hear some noises..
Soon ill bump it up a bit (to 250 bhp I hope), but I will decrease the width of my tires to 185/60/15 so I hope it will hold
